The Osun State All Progressives Congress, APC, Governorship Campaign Council has again tackled Governor Ademola Adeleke‘s administration, demanding that he immediately call his alleged political thugs to order before the state descends into lawlessness.
In a statement signed by Engr. Oluremi Omowaiye, Head of the Media and Publicity Committee, the opposition party accused the ruling party of fostering a systematic culture of intimidation, harassment, and bloody violence aimed directly at innocent citizens and supporters of the APC governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji.
The campaign council alleged that the escalating state-sponsored insecurity threatens to render Osun entirely ungovernable ahead of the upcoming election.
The APC detailed a series of coordinated assaults that took place on Tuesday morning, June 9, 2026, in the Owode-Ede axis. a region inside Governor Adeleke’s home local government area.
Brand-new APC campaign buses were reportedly ambushed and heavily vandalized by a combined band of suspected PDP and Accord Party thugs.
The attackers destroyed valuable campaign materials and left several APC loyalists with severe physical injuries.
The council also revealed a separate incident in the same community where the business van of Alhaja Falilat Ẹrọ Arike, a prominent APC campaigner, was intercepted and disrupted by suspected state actors.
Her staff members were physically assaulted and issued stern warnings never to return to Ede.
The APC stated that Alhaja Ẹrọ Arike’s sole offense was her vocal, public criticism of what they described as Governor Adeleke’s “Nebuchadnezzar-style government,” which residents blame for worsening the state’s economic hardships.
The statement further exposed a deep-seated crisis within the state’s security architecture, alleging that high-ranking government appointees are actively leading armed militia groups.
The council specifically named Nurudeen Alowonle, a state appointee who allegedly fled from police custody two years ago following an arrest for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
According to the APC, Alowonle is currently out in the open, allegedly leading heavily armed thugs in violent, bloody confrontations across Osogbo.

The opposition noted that the current chaos in the state capital stems from an internal, factional rebellion against Alowonle’s leadership. Official Governor Adeleke-branded transit buses have reportedly been spotted conveying these armed elements, who continue to fire live ammunition in broad daylight, trapping law-abiding residents in the crossfire.
The release partly read: “We call on Governor Ademola Adeleke to immediately call his political foot soldiers, Janjaweed and thugs to order before they plunge Osun State into a deeper state of insecurity and make the state more ungovernable.
“The offence of Alhaja Ẹrọ Erike is her consistent criticism of the Nebuchadnezzar-style government in Osun State, which many citizens believe has inflicted severe economic hardship on the people. Why should the electoral preference of a citizen become a criminal offence? Why should a governor, either directly or through body language, encourage supporters and kinsmen to attack fellow citizens simply because they hold different political opinions?
“Many innocent citizens have reportedly suffered injuries in the crossfire while law-abiding residents continue to live in fear as PDP/Accord-linked criminals turn parts of Osogbo into theatres of violence.
“The APC Governorship Campaign Council commiserates with all innocent citizens who lost loved ones, sustained injuries, or suffered the destruction of property and personal belongings as a result of today’s violent disturbances in Osogbo and other affected communities.
“The APC Governorship Campaign Council hereby appeals to the Inspector-General of Police and all relevant security agencies to urgently stem the rising tide of political violence in Osun State. We specifically call for the immediate investigation and arrest of those responsible for the attack on the business of Alhaja Ẹrọ Erike, the destruction of APC campaign buses in Owode Ede and the violence and chaos witnessed across Osogbo today.”
