The Inspector-General of Police, Mr Olatunji Disu has appointed CSP Anietie Iniedu as the new Force Public Relations Officer, FPRO.

The outgoing FPRO, DCP Anthony Placid, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday in Abuja.

Iniedu brings extensive experience in public communication, operational policing, intelligence management, accountability, and administration.

The new FPRO, a native of Etinan Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom, holds a B.Sc. degree in Pure Chemistry.

He obtained the degree from the University of Uyo, before joining the Nigeria Police Force.

The senior officer has undergone professional training in investigative interviewing, crime scene management, and human rights-based policing.

He has also received training in strategic communication and intelligence analysis, strengthening his policing and communication skills.

Before his appointment, Iniedu headed the Complaint Response Unit at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.

He coordinated public complaint management and promoted initiatives aimed at improving transparency and accountability.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the initiatives helped strengthen public trust in the Nigeria Police Force.

Iniedu previously served as Public Relations Officer at the Police College of Information Technology, Kobape, Ogun.

He also held several operational and administrative roles across different commands and formations nationwide.

His previous appointments include Operations Officer, Maisandari Division, Yobe, and Area Crime Officer, Umuahia Area Command, Abia.

He served as Staff Officer at the Inspector-General’s Secretariat, Force Headquarters, Abuja.

The new FPRO was also Second-in-Command, 50 Police Mobile Force Squadron, Kubwa, Abuja.

He later became Officer-in-Charge of the Force Headquarters Situation Room, where he coordinated security information.

The officer supervised the collection, processing, and dissemination of crime-related information nationwide from the situation room.

The I-G expressed confidence in Iniedu’s ability to effectively lead the Force Public Relations Department.

Disu said Iniedu’s experience would improve strategic communication and strengthen public engagement.

He added that the appointment would support ongoing policing reforms and operational achievements of the Force.

The new FPRO is expected to enhance interaction between the police and members of the public.
