The Netherlands delivered a dominant display by defeating Sweden 5-1 in their FIFA World Cup Group F encounter Saturday at the Houston Stadium in United States.

The Dutch combined attacking quality with defensive discipline to strengthen their knockout stage ambitions.

From the opening whistle, the Netherlands showed greater urgency and purpose against a struggling Swedish side.

Their high pressing unsettled Sweden and paid off in the fifth minute when Brian Brobbey opened the scoring.

Brobbey capitalized on a defensive mistake before doubling the advantage in the 17th minute.

The early goals lifted Dutch confidence as they controlled possession and stretched the Swedish defense.

Sweden pushed forward in search of a response but lacked the creativity to trouble the Dutch backline.

The Netherlands remained organized and looked threatening whenever they launched quick counterattacks.

Cody Gakpo took control after the interval, scoring in the 47th minute and striking again seven minutes later.

The two goals effectively ended Sweden’s hopes of recovering from the heavy deficit.

Anthony Elanga pulled one back for Sweden in the 59th minute, but the effort changed little.

The Netherlands continued controlling the match and created more chances throughout the second half.

Their persistence was rewarded in the 89th minute when substitute Crysencio Summerville completed the scoring.

The 5-1 victory highlighted the Netherlands’ attacking depth, clinical finishing and tactical awareness.

For Sweden, the defeat exposed defensive weaknesses and difficulties against a technically stronger opponent.

The result sends a strong warning to Group F rivals as the Netherlands chase qualification.
