Sierra Leone Premier League champions Bo Rangers have withdrawn from the 2026/27 CAF Champions League due to financial constraints.
The club confirmed its decision to pull out of Africa’s top club competition after determining that the financial requirements for participation were beyond its current capacity. The withdrawal means Bo Rangers will not represent Sierra Leone in the continental tournament despite securing qualification through their domestic league triumph.

The club earned their place in the CAF Champions League after winning the Sierra Leone Premier League title, but rising costs associated with travel, logistics, player welfare and other competition requirements forced them to reconsider their participation.
Bo Rangers’ exit represents a major blow to the club’s ambitions of competing on the African stage and is also a setback for Sierra Leonean football, which risks losing its slot in the 2026/27 tournament unless the Confederation of African Football and relevant authorities approve a replacement representative.
The decision highlights the growing financial challenges faced by clubs across Africa, where the cost of continental competitions often places significant pressure on teams with limited resources.
