MultiChoice Nigeria has disclosed that the production of Big Brother Naija, BBNaija, generates more than 1,000 direct and indirect jobs each year, with preparations for the upcoming Season 11 spanning a period of eight months.
As the Season 11 premiere begins on Sunday, the organisers highlighted the scale of planning, construction and technical work that goes into staging one of Africa’s largest reality television productions.
According to the company, groundwork for the 2026 edition commenced in November 2025, with concept development, design, procurement and construction handled entirely by Nigerian professionals. The physical transformation of the BBNaija house, from a bare shell to a fully functional television set, was completed within two months.
MultiChoice said the purpose-built house, located in Lagos, is equipped with 52 robotic pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) cameras, seven handheld cameras, BBC 59 microphones, 36 antenna blades and 19 speakers to enable round-the-clock coverage of activities within the house.
The facility, situated adjacent to the live television studio, is designed to accommodate more than 20 housemates while guaranteeing seamless camera coverage throughout the competition.
The company noted that the house is subject to major redesigns each season in order to elevate production quality and enrich the viewing experience. A significant redesign introduced in 2024 saw the staircase relocated to the centre of the living room, while the bedrooms were moved upstairs to improve camera sightlines and encourage more organic housemate interactions.

“Every structural modification is guided by production requirements including camera positioning, visibility and natural movement within the house,” the statement read.
“All engineering, civil works, electrical installations, interior decoration and finishing were executed locally, reflecting its commitment to supporting Nigerian talent and businesses.
“The production generated employment opportunities for carpenters, electricians, decorators, civil engineers and other skilled artisans during construction.”
Beyond construction, MultiChoice said the show’s economic footprint extends into the hiring of hundreds of production personnel during the season, including camera operators, technical crews, master control room staff, housekeeping teams, caterers, task facilitators and other support workers.
The company described BBNaija as far more than a mere entertainment programme, positioning the annual production as a homegrown ecosystem that showcases Nigerian expertise across multiple sectors.
