The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has recovered 401 military grade ammunition concealed in palm oil kegs in Kaduna State.
The NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Mr. Femi Babafemi, disclosed on Sunday in Abuja that operatives arrested a suspect on Wednesday during a patrol at Baure in Safana Local Government Area of Katsina State, where he was found in possession of 323 rounds of military-grade ammunition.
According to him, the package consists of 200 pieces of 7.62mm and 123 rounds of 7.6mm neatly concealed in Palm oil kegs.
“Another suspect was arrested by NDLEA officers on a stop and search operation at Jere, along Abuja-Kaduna expressway where he was found with 73 RLA, 7.62mm ammunition,” he said.
He said that both suspects have been handed over to the relevant security agency for further investigation.

Babafemi also said that NDLEA operatives on Sunday July 19, in Edo, raided Ilushi community, Esan Southeast LGA, where they seized 1,286kg cannabis and 86kg cannabis seeds in a warehouse.
He said that a suspect was caught with 60kg skunk and another suspect nabbed with 13kg of the same substance.
The director said that with the same vigor, commands and formations of the agency across the country have continued their War Against Drug Abuse, WADA, sensitization activities to public places.
Babafemi quoted the NDLEA Chairman, retired Brig.-Gen. Buba Marwa, commending the officers and men of Kaduna and Katsina commands for the various successful operations.
Marwa enjoined them and their colleagues across the country to continue with the ongoing balanced approach to the drug control efforts of the agency.
