A 23-year-old student of the Nigerian Law School, Alayande Faith Ajoke, has died in a suspected suicide incident at the institution’s hostel in Victoria Island, Lagos.
The report stated that at about 4:30 a.m., another student, Ojo Abisoye Tinuola, who had recently completed her internship, informed the matron of a suspected suicide involving her roommate, Alayande.
The matron subsequently went to the scene, where Alayande was found lying on the ground within the hostel premises.
Preliminary observations suggested that the deceased may have fallen from the rooftop of the four-storey hostel building. However, police have not established the circumstances of her death conclusively, as investigation is still ongoing.
Police sources further said investigators recovered two notes allegedly left by the deceased. The notes were reportedly addressed to her stepfather and her roommate.

The remains were subsequently evacuated to the Mainland General Hospital Mortuary in Yaba, Lagos, where they were deposited for preservation and autopsy.
The police have yet to disclose the contents of the notes or establish whether they provide an explanation for the circumstances surrounding the student’s death.
The authorities have not indicated whether academic, personal or any other factors were involved in Alayande’s death.
The police said investigation into the incident is continuing, while the autopsy is expected to assist in determining the precise cause of death.
Authorities are expected to establish the circumstances leading to the student’s death and determine whether any further action is required based on the findings of the investigation.
