Ayra Starr’s mother, Nene Aderibigbe, has taken her daughter’s upcoming album campaign to the streets of Lagos as anticipation builds ahead of the release of Starr Girl, the Nigerian Afrobeats singer’s third studio album.

Nene Aderibigbe, popularly known as Genzmummy on Instagram, shared a video showing herself, Ayra Starr’s sister and several other women participating in a street campaign dedicated to the forthcoming project.

In the video, the women were seen dressed in coordinated black outfits with purple headgear while carrying placards promoting the album.

One of the messages displayed on the placards read, “Stargirl album out on the 14th of August,” drawing attention to the scheduled release date of the highly anticipated project.

The campaign also had a spiritual dimension, with Nene Aderibigbe captioning the video with a prayer dedicating the album to God.

The appearance of Ayra Starr’s mother and sister in the promotional campaign highlights the strong family support surrounding the singer as she prepares for another major release.

Rather than relying solely on conventional digital promotion, the group took the album message directly to the streets, creating a visible presence for the project ahead of its official launch.

The campaign comes at a time when anticipation surrounding Starr Girl is growing among fans of the 23-year-old singer, who has established herself as one of the prominent female voices in Nigeria’s Afrobeats scene.

Ayra Starr’s rise to prominence began after she signed with Mavin Records and released her self-titled debut EP in 2021.

Born in Cotonou, Benin Republic, and raised in Lagos, Ayra Starr’s career gained momentum following the release of her debut EP.

Her first studio album, 19 & Dangerous, was released in 2021 and featured songs that helped establish her distinctive blend of Afrobeats, R&B and pop influences.

The album included tracks such as Away, Bloody Samaritan and Fashion Killer, further strengthening her position within Nigeria’s fast-growing contemporary music scene.

She followed the project with her second studio album, The Year I Turned 21, released in May 2024.

The album reflected her artistic growth and featured collaborations with several established international and African artistes.

With Starr Girl, Ayra Starr’s new project is expected to represent the next stage of her musical evolution as she continues to build an international audience.

One of the biggest milestones in Ayra Starr’s career came with her global hit Rush. Released in 2022, the song became one of the singer’s most recognizable records and further expanded her international profile.

The success of the track earned Ayra Starr a nomination in the Best African Music Performance category at the 66th Grammy Awards.

Although she did not win the award, the nomination represented an important achievement for the singer and reinforced her growing influence beyond Nigeria.

The singer has since continued to release music and perform for audiences across Africa and internationally.

Ayra Starr previously announced that Starr Girl would be released on August 14, making it her first studio album since The Year I Turned 21.

The album has therefore generated considerable interest among fans who have followed her progression from a young Mavin Records signee to an internationally recognized Afrobeats artiste.

The title itself continues the identity that has become closely associated with the singer, while the promotional campaign suggests that her team is positioning the project as an important new chapter in her career.

Ayra Starr’s decision to release the project after the success of her previous album also gives her an opportunity to build on the momentum created by her earlier music.

The street activation in Lagos has added a personal and community-driven element to the album rollout.

The sight of Nene Aderibigbe, Ayra Starr’s sister and other women promoting the project has attracted attention online, particularly because of the unusual approach to the campaign.

The women’s matching outfits and purple headgear created a coordinated visual identity, while the placards clearly communicated the album’s release date to members of the public.

For Ayra Starr’s fans, the campaign serves as another reminder that the long-awaited project is almost here.

As the August 14 release date approaches, attention will now turn to the album’s track list, collaborations, sound and its reception among listeners.

The release is also expected to further test Ayra Starr’s ability to sustain her position among Africa’s leading young female music stars.

With two studio albums already under her belt and international recognition from songs such as Rush, the singer enters the Starr Girl era with a growing fan base and considerable expectations.
