The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has directed the immediate closure of the secretariat of the dissolved Ad-hoc Committee on Sales of Federal Government Houses in the FCT.
The FCT Administration disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Senior Special Assistant to the Minister on Public Communications and social media, Lere Olayinka.
According to the statement, the decision means the dissolved committee and its secretariat will no longer handle matters relating to the sale of Federal Government Houses in the Federal Capital Territory.
The minister also approved the creation of a dedicated division within the Department of Land Administration to take over responsibilities previously handled by the defunct committee.
The newly created division will henceforth manage issues relating to the sale of Federal Government Houses in the FCT, providing a new administrative structure for handling such transactions.
The FCT Administration explained that the secretariat of the ad-hoc committee had remained operational after the committee completed its assignment in order to address outstanding issues arising from its activities.
However, with those responsibilities now transferred to the Department of Land Administration, Wike approved the formal closure of the secretariat with immediate effect.
The administration subsequently directed members of the public seeking information or assistance concerning the sale of Federal Government Houses in the FCT to approach the Department of Land Administration.

“With the formal closure of the secretariat, the general public is enjoined to henceforth approach the Department of Land Administration on all issues relating to sale of Federal Government Houses in the FCT,” the statement said.
The FCT Administration also issued a warning to members of the public to be cautious of individuals who may attempt to exploit the closure of the committee and its secretariat.
It specifically warned against fraudsters who may continue to present themselves as staff, officers or members of the former committee or its secretariat.
The administration stressed that the committee and its secretariat no longer exist and that individuals claiming to represent the defunct body should not be trusted.
“Members of the public are also urged to be mindful of the antics and activities of fraudsters who parade themselves as staff, officers and members of the defunct Ad-Hoc Committee/Secretariat on SFGH as the committee and secretariat no longer exist,” it said.
The development effectively centralizes the handling of Federal Government Houses sales under the Department of Land Administration, following the completion and dissolution of the ad-hoc committee.
The FCT Administration urged residents and other stakeholders to direct future enquiries and transactions relating to the sale of Federal Government Houses through the appropriate department to avoid confusion and possible fraudulent dealings.
