Heirs Insurance Group has brought together more than 1,000 retirees at its inaugural Heirs Insurance Retirees Meet-up in Lagos, as part of efforts to promote financial wellbeing and inclusion among retirees.
The company said in a statement on Tuesday that the event provided retirees with an opportunity to learn, network and participate in wellness and recreational activities.
According to the group, the initiative was designed to support retirees as they navigate life after active employment, with a focus on financial management, healthcare, healthy living and social engagement.
The event featured expert-led sessions, complimentary health screenings, financial guidance and interactive activities aimed at addressing some of the challenges retirees face in retirement.
Participants also had the opportunity to share personal experiences, exchange ideas and build new social connections within a supportive community.
As part of the initiative, Heirs Insurance Group launched the Heirs Insurance Rewards Programme for its annuitants.
The programme provides retirees with access to discounts from selected health and lifestyle partners, offering additional benefits beyond their regular insurance services.

Speaking at the event, the Chief Marketing Officer of Heirs Insurance Group, Mr. Ifesinachi Okpagu, said retirees had spent decades contributing to nation building but were often overlooked in conversations around financial wellbeing and healthcare.
Okpagu said the retirees’ meetup was created to strengthen the company’s relationship with its customers beyond the payment of monthly annuities.
“Through the Retirees Meet-up and our growing Retirees Club, we are intentionally creating a platform that brings retirees together, celebrates them and gives them access to the information, support and community they need to thrive in retirement,” he said.
He explained that the Heirs Insurance Retirees Club was designed as a growing community for retirees and pre-retirees seeking practical information and support as they plan for and navigate retirement.
According to him, the platform provides access to retirement information, exclusive events, product and service updates, partner discounts and customer milestone benefits.
Okpagu said the initiative formed part of Heirs Insurance Group’s broader commitment to promoting financial inclusion and improving access to insurance and related services.
He added that the company would continue to develop initiatives that support retirees and help them maintain financial stability, healthy lifestyles and meaningful social connections during retirement. Heirs Insurance Group is the insurance arm of Heirs Holdings.
