The Federal Government has urged Nigerians to support Miss World Nigeria 2026, Tamunosoye Karibi-George, popularly known as Soye, as the 73rd Miss World Festival continues in Vietnam.

The Minister of Art, Culture and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, made the appeal in a post on X on Friday, praising Karibi-George for representing Nigeria on the international stage.

Musawa commended the Nigerian contestant for using the global pageant as a platform to showcase the country while drawing attention to issues affecting young Nigerians.

According to the minister, Karibi-George’s emergence as Africa’s Top Model and her qualification for the Top 40 have brought pride to Nigeria and demonstrated her strong performance in the competition.

With less than nine hours remaining before voting closes, Musawa urged Nigerians to vote for Soye and encourage others to participate, stressing that every vote could be important as the competition progresses.

She also called on Nigerians to share information about the voting process to help increase support for the country’s representative.

“Dear Soye, seeing you carry Nigeria’s name with such grace, confidence and purpose on the Miss World stage has made us incredibly proud,” Musawa wrote.

She described Soye’s achievements at the competition as remarkable and praised her for using the platform to promote Nigeria and inspire young people.

The minister said the Nigerian contestant had demonstrated that the pageant was about more than competition by speaking about issues that affect young people and presenting a positive image of Nigeria to the international community.

“Nigerians continue to stand with you. There are just nine hours left to vote, and the window is closing fast. Soye needs every vote, and every point matters for the stages ahead,” she added.

Karibi-George, 26, won the Miss World Nigeria 2026 title at the Federal Palace Hotel in Lagos after competing against 20 other finalists.

Although she is from Port Harcourt, Rivers State, she represented Bayelsa State during the national pageant.

A communications professional and associate of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, Karibi-George is also the founder of Beyond Labels, an organization focused on promoting inclusion for children with special needs.

She previously won the Miss Africa International 2024 title in Ghana, further establishing her presence in international beauty and advocacy competitions.

At the ongoing Miss World Festival in Vietnam, Karibi-George has already secured the Africa’s Top Model title and advanced to the Top 40.

Her progress has generated excitement among Nigerian supporters, with the contestant now aiming to advance further in the competition.

Karibi-George will seek to surpass Nigeria’s previous representative, Joy Mojisola Raimi, who reached the Top 20 in the last edition of the Miss World competition.
