Nollywood actress and filmmaker Toyin Abraham has announced her new movie, ‘Bestie,’ which is scheduled to hit cinemas nationwide in December.
Abraham unveiled the project on Friday through a teaser video shared on her verified Instagram page, featuring highlights from some of her previous productions before introducing Bestie as her latest cinema release. The film carries the tagline, “Besties by choice, strangers by betrayal.”
The announcement marks Abraham’s return to the cinema following the commercial success of her 2025 film, Oversabi Aunty, which crossed the N1 billion mark at the box office in January 2026.
Oversabi Aunty, which marked Abraham’s directorial debut, grossed N1.017 billion and became the first Nollywood directorial debut to surpass the N1 billion threshold.
The achievement also placed the film among Nollywood’s highest-grossing productions and earned Abraham a Box Office Champion Award from the National Film and Video Censors Board in March 2026.
The filmmaker has also built a strong record with December cinema releases, a period that traditionally attracts significant cinema audiences in Nigeria.

Her previous December titles include Ijakumo: The Born Again Stripper in 2022, Malaika in 2023 and Alakada: Bad and Boujee in 2024.
Alakada: Bad and Boujee, released on Dec. 20, 2024, recorded a strong theatrical run, earning about N134 million within its first week before eventually surpassing N500 million at the Nigerian box office.
The performance of Oversabi Aunty further strengthened Abraham’s position as one of the prominent commercial filmmakers in Nollywood.
FilmOne, the film’s distributor, reported that the production became the first directorial debut in Nollywood to cross the N1 billion mark.
While Abraham has revealed the title, release date and tagline for Bestie, details about the film’s storyline and full cast have not yet been publicly disclosed.
The December release is also set to place Bestie within another busy period for Nigerian cinema, with other major productions expected to compete for audiences during the festive season.
Abraham’s latest project will therefore be closely watched as she seeks to build on the box-office momentum generated by her recent films.
