Troops of the Joint Task Force North-West, Operation Fansan Yamma, have arrested a suspected terrorist kingpin, an ammunition courier and a suspected logistics supplier in separate operations across Kaduna State.

The arrests were made by troops of Sector 1 during clearance and intelligence-led operations in Kubau, Igabi and Birnin Gwari Local Government Areas of the state.

The operations also led to the recovery of 300 rounds of ammunition and four communication devices suspected to have been used by terrorists.

The Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force North-West, Operation Fansan Yamma, Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, said that troops conducted a clearance operation at Dabar Dabo in Kubau LGA, identified as a hideout of suspected terrorists, where they arrested a suspected terrorist kingpin and two other members of his syndicate. The suspects were taken into military custody for further investigation.

In a separate operation in Igabi LGA, troops acting on credible intelligence about the movement of terrorist ammunition arrested a 50-year-old woman suspected of serving as an ammunition courier. The suspect was allegedly found carrying 300 rounds of ammunition concealed in a bag.

Preliminary investigation showed that she had travelled from Zamfara State to Lafia, Nasarawa State, where she allegedly received the ammunition for onward delivery to suspected terrorists in Birnin Gwari, Kaduna State.

The suspect and the recovered ammunition were subsequently taken into military custody for further investigation.

Later on, troops of Sector 1, working with a community vigilante group, also apprehended a suspected terrorist logistics supplier in Birnin Gwari LGA.

Four communication devices suspected to have been used by terrorists were recovered during the interrogation and search of the suspect.

The Joint Task Force said the operations demonstrated its commitment to disrupting terrorist networks and preventing the movement of arms, ammunition and logistics within its area of responsibility.

“The series of successes recorded is a testimony to the unwavering commitment of troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to disrupt terrorist networks, deny criminal elements freedom of action, and prevent the movement of arms, ammunition and other logistics across the Joint Operations Area,” the JTF said.

The task force commended members of the public for their continued support and urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest security agency.
