No fewer than 500 Northern Nigerian women Ulamas and Islamic scholars have endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term in the 2027 general elections.
The women made the declaration in a communiqué issued at the end of an engagement meeting organized by the Muslim Intellectuals Forum in Kaduna on Sunday. The meeting brought together 25 women Da’wah preaching groups from northern states and the Federal Capital Territory.
The communiqué, read by Aisha Tukur from Jigawa State, said the participants deliberated on Islam, national development, good governance, security, education, the economy and Nigeria’s political direction ahead of the 2027 elections.
The meeting was attended by some northern governors, political leaders and other stakeholders, who were briefed on the philosophy, objectives and aspirations of the Muslim Intellectuals Forum as a platform for constructive engagement.
The women welcomed the initiative and resolved to establish a women’s chapter of the forum with an appropriate leadership structure.
They also reviewed the performance of the Federal Government under Tinubu through presentations supported by facts, images and illustrations.
The participants particularly acknowledged government interventions in education, security, infrastructure and economic development.
They commended the establishment and implementation of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, NELFUND, describing it as an intervention aimed at expanding access to tertiary education. The women noted that about 70 per cent of NELFUND beneficiaries were from northern Nigeria.
They also acknowledged efforts to tackle insecurity through the establishment of additional military formations, procurement of equipment and recruitment of additional security personnel.
According to the participants, the interventions demonstrate the Federal Government’s commitment to addressing challenges confronting Nigerians, particularly communities across northern Nigeria.

The women commended the Tinubu administration and urged it to sustain and expand programmes focused on security, education, infrastructure, employment and economic development.
They also welcomed the Federal Government’s commitment to consultation and dialogue, urging the president to institutionalize regular engagement with stakeholders.
They said regular consultations with Ulamas, traditional rulers, community leaders, women, youths and professionals would strengthen public confidence in government.
The participants said another term for Tinubu would provide an opportunity to complete important projects and deepen reforms in security, education and economic development.
They reaffirmed their commitment to constructive engagement, peaceful democratic participation and national unity, while offering prayers for Nigeria’s peace, security and prosperity.
The women expressed appreciation to the governors of Kaduna, Yobe, Borno and Jigawa states for participating in the engagement.
They also commended Gombe State Governor and Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum, Inuwa Yahaya, for attending the meeting.
Former governors of Katsina and Zamfara states were also appreciated for honouring the invitation and participating in the engagement.
The participants further commended Ibrahim Kabir Masari, Special Adviser to the President on Political Affairs, for his commitment and contributions to the engagement.
The meeting ended with prayers for continued peace, security and prosperity in Nigeria, as the women reaffirmed their readiness to support democratic and national development efforts.
