The Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS, Kemi Nandap, has tasked 1,626 officers graduating from the Fourth Combined and Upgrading Course to uphold professionalism in border security.
Nandap gave the charge at the graduation ceremony and Passing Out Parade held at the Immigration Training School, Kano, ITSK, and the Digital Bridge Institute.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that this was contained in a statement issued by Akinsola Akinlabi, Deputy Comptroller of Immigration and Service Public Relations Officer, SPRO, on Sunday in Abuja.
Nandap, represented by the Assistant Comptroller-General, ACG, in charge of Human Resources Management, Samuel Agba, stressed the importance of technology in addressing contemporary challenges in border security and migration management.
She reaffirmed the service’s commitment to continuous training, upgrading and improved welfare of its personnel.

The Commandant of the Immigration Training School, Kano, Anthony Akuneme, said a record number of cadets were mobilized for the training.
Akuneme described the exercise as the largest training programme in the history of the school. He urged the graduating officers to remain responsive to the changing dynamics of border management by facilitating legitimate migration flows while preventing irregular migration and trans-border threats.
The commandant also emphasized the need for the officers to deploy the knowledge and skills acquired during the training to strengthen the country’s border security and migration management efforts.
NAN reports that the ceremony featured the presentation of merit awards to deserving participants in recognition of their outstanding performance during the course.
The high point of the event was the commissioning of an ultra-modern market constructed by the course participants as part of activities marking the completion of their training.
