The Zamfara Government has begun installing internet facilities at Gusau International Airport as the state prepares to commence commercial flight operations on October 1.
The Executive Secretary of the Zamfara Information Technology Development Agency, ZITDA, Dr Habib Gajam, announced this during an assessment tour of the airport on Monday.
Gajam said ZITDA would provide reliable internet connectivity across key operational areas to support efficient airport operations and improve passenger travel experience.
He said the connectivity would cover the domestic and international departure and arrival terminals, protocol and VIP lounges, control tower, fire station and other critical areas.
“Passengers using the airport will also have access to free internet services as part of efforts to provide a more connected travel experience.

“The airport project is part of the Zamfara Government’s wider digital infrastructure expansion programme aimed at supporting modern public services and improving connectivity across the state,” he said.
Gajam said the first phase of the programme had provided internet infrastructure at the Government House, JB Yakubu Secretariat Complex, State House of Assembly Complex, State High Court Complex, Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital, College of Nursing Sciences, Gusau, and the Zamfara Internal Revenue Service.
He said the government was working to ensure that the digital infrastructure required to support airport operations was in place before the commencement of commercial flights.
The ZITDA chief said the initiative aligned with Governor Dauda Lawal’s vision of making Zamfara a more digitally enabled and connected state.
In September 22, Zamfara Government had signed an Air Route Development Partnership Agreement with XEJet Ltd. for scheduled commercial flights between Gusau International Airport and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
