The Senate will convene a two-day national security summit in Abuja in October to examine ways to strengthen Nigeria’s security architecture, improve inter-agency collaboration and address emerging threats.
The Senate President, Sen. Godswill Akpabio, announced this during plenary on Tuesday in Abuja, saying the summit would hold from October 12 to October13 at the International Conference Centre, Abuja, beginning at 9 a.m. daily.
He said the summit, titled “Strengthening Nigeria’s National Security Architecture: Innovation, Collaboration and Resilience in a Changing World,” would provide an opportunity for stakeholders to deliberate on improving national security.
Akpabio urged senators to contribute to discussions on measures that would enable Nigerians to live safely and return to their farms without fear.

He also called on security agencies to participate actively in the summit and contribute to discussions on improving the country’s security architecture.
The Senate President described the summit as long overdue and said the Senate was expected to contribute to efforts to address Nigeria’s security challenges.
He said the summit would bring together relevant stakeholders to discuss stronger security architecture, inter-agency collaboration and resilience against emerging threats.
The Senate subsequently adjourned plenary to October 13.
