The Director of Women Mobilisation for the All-Progressives Congress, APC, Presidential Campaign Council, Dr Betta Edu, has said President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms are opening new opportunities for women at the grassroots. She urged them to find out which programmes are available and take advantage of them.
Edu spoke in a statement marking Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary. She said her directorate would step up door-to-door sensitisation and community mobilisation to take information about government opportunities directly to women and households. The directorate would also use these structures to campaign for the President’s re-election.
According to her, the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda is creating opportunities in agriculture, enterprise, energy, infrastructure, skills development and social investment.
She said, however, that the reforms would only mean more to ordinary people if citizens at the grassroots knew what opportunities existed, what was required to access them, and which institutions were responsible for delivering them.

“President Tinubu’s reforms are creating new pathways for economic participation. Our responsibility is to take that message to the grassroots and ensure that women know where opportunities exist, how to access them, and how to engage the relevant institutions,” Edu said.
“Through door-to-door sensitisation, we will continue to reach women in their communities and households with information that can help them participate in economic and community development.
“More importantly, we will use our grassroots structures to campaign for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu for a second term in office.”
Edu also used the anniversary to honour the sacrifices and vision of Nigeria’s founding fathers and heroines. She said their efforts laid the foundation for the country’s sovereignty.
“Our founding fathers and heroines gave us the foundation on which we continue to build. Their vision demands that every generation contributes to making Nigeria stronger and more prosperous,” she said.
She called for national unity and peaceful coexistence, and for greater commitment to building a country that reflects what its founding generation hoped for.
Edu congratulated Nigerians at home and abroad as the country marks 66 years of independence.
