The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 27-year-old ex-convict, Chidera Eleh, popularly known as Timaya, over alleged motorcycle-assisted robberies targeting Point-of-Sale operators and other residents in Awka.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga said the arrest followed intelligence-led efforts to track suspects involved in motorcycle-enabled robberies and related crimes across the state.
Police operatives reportedly recovered a motorcycle, an axe, a cutlass and other items suspected to be connected to the alleged criminal activities.

The police spokesperson said Eleh remained in custody as investigations continued to determine the extent of his alleged involvement and identify other suspected accomplices.
The Commissioner of Police in Anambra, Nnanna Ama, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property and bringing perpetrators of crime to justice in accordance with the law.
Ama urged Point-of-Sale operators, commercial motorcycle riders and other business owners to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements or criminal activities to the nearest police station.
