Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman scored in the second half to help Atletico Madrid secure a 2-0 victory over Manchester United in Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League encounter.
Pablo Barrios opened the scoring in the first minute at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano before Lookman sealed the victory with a 79th-minute strike.
Lookman capitalised on a rebound after Manchester United goalkeeper Senne Lammens saved Jonathan David’s effort but failed to keep the ball away from the Nigerian forward.
The goal came shortly after United defender Leny Yoro was sent off following a VAR review of his challenge on David.
Barrios had put Atletico ahead after Lee Kana-in found Alex Baena, who created space before squaring the ball for the midfielder to finish.

Manchester United pushed for an equaliser, but Bryan Mbeumo missed opportunities while captain Bruno Fernandes struck the crossbar.
Atletico also had a goal ruled out before half-time after a VAR review identified a handball by Marcos Llorente in the build-up to Johnny Cardoso’s effort.
The defeat dealt another blow to Manchester United manager Michael Car-rick, whose side had opened their Champions League campaign with a 4-0 victory over Sabah FK.
Atletico, meanwhile, claimed their first win in this season’s Champions League league phase after losing 2-1 to Liverpool in their opening match.
Both teams return to Champions League action on October 21, when Atletico face Stuttgart and Manchester United take on Como.
