The personal assistant to late gospel singer Toluwanisings, Babadunni Gbolabo, said the singer was taken to seven or eight hospitals in Ibadan, Oyo State, after he suddenly slumped, but efforts to secure medical attention were unsuccessful.
Gbolabo said some hospitals cited an ongoing doctor strike, while others did not admit the singer despite attempts to revive him.
The singer died in the early hours of Wednesday, October 14 at the age of 41. His family confirmed his death in an announcement shared on his verified social media accounts but did not disclose the cause.
Speaking about the incident on Thursday, Gbolabo said he was not present when the singer slumped but rushed to the scene after receiving a call.
“He was not sick; he was very fine and in perfect condition,” he said, describing the incident as sudden.
Gbolabo said people around the singer tried to resuscitate him before taking him to different hospitals in search of help.
