The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory , FCT, Mr Nyesom Wike, has commended Dunamis International Gospel Centre for building a pedestrian bridge along the busy Airport Road, Abuja.
Wike gave the commendation in Abuja on Friday during the inauguration of the pedestrian bridge built at the Church headquarters, the 100,000-capacity Glory Dome, Abuja where he described the project as an exemplary model of Corporate Social Responsibility, CSR.
The minister revealed that while the Church applied for approval to construct the facility in 2018, the application was only brought to his attention in February 2026, leading to its swift approval within one month.
He described the approval as evidence of President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to good governance, urging members of the Church to support government with proven capacity to respond to the needs of the people.
To further encourage community-driven infrastructure, the minister announced that the FCT Administration, FCTA, would defray 50 per cent of the total cost incurred by the Church in constructing the bridge.
He commended the Senior Pastor of Dunamis, Dr Paul Enenche and his wife, Dr Becky Enenche, for demonstrating leadership and sacrificing Church resources to save lives and enhance human welfare rather than solely focusing on soul-winning.
The minister, however, decried the habitual refusal of many pedestrians to use constructed bridges, choosing instead to risk their lives crossing high-speed expressways.

Dr Paul Enenche, Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre says the church constructed the pedestrian bridge across the six-lane Airport Road corridor in Abuja to show love for God and humanity.
The bridge was fully funded by the church, following approval by the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Administration after years of seeking authorisation.
The senior pastor said that the project reflected the church’s commitment to making a positive impact on society.
“God is love. To be a messenger of God means to be a messenger of love. Love is about what we give, not what we get,” he said.
He said making a difference was more important than merely making a living, adding that people were remembered more for their contributions to society than for their accumulated wealth.
Enenche said the church initially planned to complete the project within three months but later agreed with the contractor on a four-month timeline.
He listed other interventions by the church to include road construction in Mararaba, Karu and Kubwa, provision of boreholes in Borno, and assistance to Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs and flood victims in Maiduguri.
Mr Temitope Runsewe, Managing Director of Dutum Construction Company Ltd., said the project was completed through deliberate leadership, commitment and what he described as divine assistance.
Runsewe said the indigenous company accepted the challenge of completing the bridge within four months, despite the tight deadline.
Runsewe said the company was also handling a similar project in Ghana, demonstrating the capacity of Nigerian construction firms to undertake projects locally and internationally.
