Troops of the Nigerian Army, have repelled an ISWAP assault in Borno, struck a terrorist enclave with drone, apprehended seven suspected collaborators and dismantled illegal crude oil operations nationwide.

The operations also led to the neutralisation of six terrorists in a precision drone strike in Borno, while troops intervened in a farmers-herders clash in Plateau.

An operational report made available to the News Agency of Nigeria on Sunday, said troops of 151 Task Force Battalion at Forward Operating Base in Bama Local Government Area of Borno repelled an ISWAP attack on Oct. 29.

The report said the terrorists reportedly attacked the troops at about 9:05 p.m. but were forced to withdraw in disarray following an exchange of fire.

It said the troops also recovered one rocket-propelled grenade bomb, one machine gun solenoid, one AK-47 magazine and 16 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.

According to the report, troops of the Nigerian Army Landing Craft in collaboration with 403 Amphibious Brigade, also neutralised six terrorists during a precision drone strike on a terrorist enclave in Dumba, Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno.

The report said the operation was conducted on Oct. 30 following intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions that identified the terrorists’ location.

It said preliminary battle damage assessment indicated that six terrorists were neutralised, while several others sustained injuries.

“Further battle damage assessment was ongoing to establish the full impact of the strike.

“In Benue, troops of Sector 1, Operation WHIRL STROKE, working with local vigilantes, arrested seven suspected terrorist collaborators at Agu Centre, Ugande, Katsina-Ala Local Government Area.

“The suspects were apprehended at about 10:35 a.m. on Oct. 30 and taken into custody for further investigation,” it said.

The report further revealed that troops of 103 Battalion (Main), under Joint Task Force South-South, Operation DELTA SAFE, uncovered three illegal refining sites in Okarki forest, Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers.

It added that the operation, conducted on Oct. 30, led to the discovery of three drum ovens, three coolants, a reservoir, a plastic bucket, three pipes measuring about 20 metres and 81 sacks of suspected stolen crude oil.

According to the report, the stolen crude oil was estimated at 4,212 litres, while the discovered items were handled in line with extant regulations.

“In Plateau, troops of Sector 5, Operation ENDURING PEACE, intervened in a clash between farmers and herders at Malul village, Bokkos LGA, on Oct. 31.

“The clash occurred when herders allegedly attempted to forcefully access farmland while farmers were harvesting their crops.

“The troops subsequently dominated the area to prevent further clashes and possible reprisal attacks,” it added.

The military said the operations underscore ongoing efforts by troops across various theatres to combat terrorism, criminality, economic sabotage and other security threats.
