President Bola Tinubu has called on Nigerian youths to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards and participate in the 2027 general elections, saying their future may be influenced by its outcome.
He said the election was not about his personal ambition but about the future of young Nigerians, urging them to use their PVCs to decide who leads the country.
Tinubu, at the Rainbow Coalition presidential campaign rally in Port Harcourt, on Saturday, said: “Youth of Nigeria, I’m looking at you. This election is about you. It’s not about me. Your future depends on this election.”
The President urged those who had yet to collect their PVCs to do so, describing the voter card as a tool for determining the country’s future.

“It is left for you to use the weapon you have. And that weapon is the PVC. If you have not collected yours, please go ahead and collect it. Please. I beg you. I take God beg you,” Tinubu said.
He also identified economic development as a weapon young Nigerians could deploy against poverty, noting that his administration was working to strengthen the economy and distribute prosperity.
According to him, previous administrations left billions and trillions of naira in unpaid pensions and gratuities, which his government was gradually clearing.
“The people that governed before, they left unpaid pensions and gratuity in billions and trillions of naira. That is being cleared. So that every family is included. We are sharing prosperity already,” he said.
Tinubu listed retired professionals, including engineers, welders and teachers, among those benefiting from the payments.
“A retired engineer is receiving their gratuity right now. A retired welder is receiving the pension right now. A retired teacher is receiving the pension right now,” he added.
The President thanked residents for their support and engagement, expressing affection for them before concluding his address.
The coalition comprises politicians and supporters from different political parties, including the All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party.
It had earlier endorsed Tinubu for a second term and announced its preferred candidates for various elective positions in Rivers State.
Tinubu’s appearance at the rally forms part of his engagements ahead of the 2027 general elections, following the launch of his re-election campaign in Kaduna State on October 24.
