UAE Halts Tourist and Work Visas for Citizens of Nine Countries Amid Security Concerns

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has reportedly suspended new tourist and work visas for citizens of nine countries, citing security, health, and migration management concerns.

The suspension is effective immediately and expected to continue into 2026.

The affected countries include Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Cameroon, Lebanon, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Uganda, and Yemen. However, the Bangladeshi and Ugandan ambassadors have dismissed reports of a visa ban as false.

The suspension applies only to new visa applications. Holders of valid UAE visas can continue to travel, reside, and work in the country.

Analysts suggest the move aims to strengthen security, manage migration flows, and address public health issues. The decision could impact UAE businesses that rely on workers from the affected countries and may affect diplomatic relations.

Citizens planning to apply for visas are advised to follow updates from official UAE immigration authorities.
