The Osun State chapter of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, on Sunday, said the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state was in crisis over the alleged sharing of major elective positions ahead of the 2026 governorship and 2027 general elections.

The ruling PDP, in a statement signed by its chairman, Sunday Bisi, said the leaked purported consensus list of APC candidates was a sign of “confusion and desperation” within the opposition party.

The circulated list, sighted by our correspondent on Sunday across several WhatsApp groups, allegedly allocated the governorship, deputy governorship and three senatorial seats to selected members of the APC.

According to the list titled: “REVEALED: APC CONSENSUS LIST FOR 2026/2027 RACE,” the current Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority, Bola Oyebamiji, was named as the consensus governorship candidate, while a former Commissioner for Works and now Executive Director (Project Implementation) at the Federal Housing Authority, Remi Omowaiye, was listed as the deputy governorship candidate.

Also featured were the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, former APC National Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore, and Chairman of Mutual Benefits Assurance, Dr Akin Ogunbiyi, who were listed as consensus candidates for Osun Central, Osun East and Osun West senatorial districts, respectively.

However, in a swift reaction, the APC dismissed the list, accusing the PDP of fabricating it to sow discord.

The APC spokesperson, Kola Olabisi, described the purported list as fake, insisting that it may have been produced by the PDP leadership to create tension ahead of the polls.

But Bisi maintained that the next general elections would not be determined by propaganda, but by performance and trust, adding, “Osun people know the difference between hardship and hope.”

He said residents had experienced governance under both parties and, in his words, were “proudly standing with the PDP, the party that has restored light, dignity and direction to governance through IMOLE.”

According to him, the party’s support base is “deeply emotional and rooted in public trust,” citing widespread goodwill from workers, pensioners, traders, students and professional groups.

“Salaries are no longer delayed, pensions are regular, and respect has returned to the public service. The people can now plan their lives because they trust the system again,” Bisi said.

The PDP described the purported APC consensus arrangement as a “recycled plan of tired and deceitful politicians,” insisting the state would not return to “its years of retrogression.”

But Olabisi, in a further rebuttal, dismissed the PDP’s claims as “beer parlor gossip.”

He said: “Our party did not compile any consensus list. The one in circulation is a product of drunken imaginations designed to cause disunity among our aspirants.

“What is clear is that any of our governorship aspirants is capable of sending Governor Ademola Adeleke back to Atlanta or wherever he came from. This attempt at mischief is dead on arrival.”
