Katsina United Football Club has denied and strongly condemned an online publication regarding alleged events during their recent NPFL league match against Barau FC, held at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium in Katsina.
In a statement released on Sunday in Katsina, the club’s Media Director, Nasir Gide, described the report as both false and misleading, firmly dismissing its claims.
He said that the publication had alleged that supporters of the club invaded the pitch, chaos erupted at the venue, and that a player had been slaughtered.
“These claims are entirely baseless and a deliberate attempt to tarnish the club’s image and football in the state. At no point during the game did any supporter gain access to the main pitch,” Gide said.
He admitted that the match was tensed due to some contentious officiating decisions but emphasised that security operatives kept the situation under control throughout the match.
“These assertions are completely false and do not reflect what truly transpired. The game was managed within the confines of order and security,” he said.

According to him, the club is disappointed that a respected platform would publish such serious allegations without verifying the facts.
He warned that such misinformation could damage the image of the club and undermine football development in the state and Nigeria as a whole.
Gide also emphasised that, “Katsina United football club is committed to professionalism, discipline, and fair play both on and off the pitch.”
The club also accused Barau FC of amplifying the false reports and said it would allow the League Management Company (LMC) to investigate the matter and take appropriate action.
According to him, the club has demanded that the online platform retract its story and issue a public apology, while failure to do so could lead to legal action.
“We advise the publishers of this misleading report to retract the story immediately, otherwise, we’ll be left with no choice but to seek redress through appropriate legal channels,” Gide added.
