Nasarawa United has been fined heavily and sanctioned by the Nigeria Premier Football League,NPFL, over crowd trouble on April 13.

The incident occurred during their fixture against Plateau United, where supporters stormed restricted areas and attacked players and officials. Plateau United’s Vincent Temitope sustained injuries during the assault and required medical attention.

The NPFL has imposed a total fine of N6 million on Nasarawa United for multiple offenses. These include N1 million for failing to provide adequate security, which led to a breach that endangered the safety of Plateau United players and match officials.

An additional N1 million was imposed for failure to control supporters, whose actions led to the harassment and assault of opposing team members. The league body further fined the club N3 million for what it described as a persistent disregard for NPFL regulations.

The league also directed Nasarawa United to pay N1 million in compensation and medical expenses for Vincent Temitope, who was injured during the scuffle.

As part of the disciplinary measures, the club has been ordered to play the remainder of its home fixtures at the Pantami Stadium in Gombe.

This incident adds to Nassarawa United’s history of disciplinary issues. In January 2025, the club was fined #3 million and had three points and goals deducted after supporters assaulted referee Musibaudeen Ibrahim during a match against Rivers United.

However, the Nigeria Football Federation later overturned the points deduction, citing insufficient evidence of assault

This development has drawn attention to the ongoing concerns around crowd control and matchday security across NPFL venues.

It also marks another chapter in Nasarawa United’s history of disciplinary issues, as the league enforces stricter standards to protect players, officials, and fans.

The NPFL emphasized its commitment to upholding the integrity of the game and ensuring a secure environment in the league.
