President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Chief Ayodeji Tajudeen Kareem,an accomplished communication strategist, journalist, and public policy expert, as he marks his 65th birthday Thursday.
The president described Chief Kareem as a rare professional whose contributions have significantly shaped Nigeria’s media landscape, public discourse, and national development for over four decades.
Kareem currently serves as the Executive Director, Public Sector and Strategy, at the Nigerian Capital Development Fund, where he plays a central role in guiding public sector engagement, strategic communication, and socio-economic development initiatives.
His academic foundation includes a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communication from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, complemented by several professional certifications in communication management and policy strategy.
Throughout his distinguished career, Kareem has demonstrated exceptional leadership across print and electronic media, corporate communication, and government relations.
His professional experience spans senior roles such as Editorial Board Member of Blueprint Newspaper, Chief Consultant at Proedge Limited, and General Manager of Kwara State Television Service.
In government, he served as Chief Press Secretary to the Kwara State Governor, Personal Assistant to the Minister of State for Communications, and Senior Consultant to various communication and management bodies.
He also held multiple influential positions at The Guardian Newspapers, including News Editor, Foreign Desk Head, and Oyo State Bureau Chief.

Kareem’s impact is evident in several major national initiatives. In 2005, he was a key figure in the strategic media management of the relocation of Zimbabwean white farmers to Kwara State, an effort that led to the establishment of Shonga Farms—one of Nigeria’s landmark agricultural projects.
He was also part of the communication strategy team behind Nigeria’s GSM revolution in 2001, participating in public awareness and stakeholder coordination during the licensing and rollout of major GSM operators.
During the administration of the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, Kareem contributed to the implementation of the Agricultural Roadmap under the Seven-Point Agenda.
His expertise was again invaluable in shaping Nigeria’s ICT Roadmap during the tenure of former Minister Adebayo Shittu.
More recently, he played a key role in the National Risk Communication Strategy during the COVID-19 pandemic, working with the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
A Fellow of the Certified Institute of Management and honorary member of the Japan Press Club, Kareem is equally celebrated for his community development efforts.
As the Gbadegun of Oro-Ago, he has championed peace, social amenities, and health insurance support for communities in Ifelodun Local Government, Kwara State.
President Tinubu wished him long life, renewed strength, and continued service to Nigeria.
