The Ebonyi State Police Command has rescued a kidnap victim, Thank-God Obasi, who was found tied and locked inside a hotel toilet in Ezzangbo, Ohaukwu Local Government Area.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Joshua Ukandu, disclosed this in a statement issued in Abakaliki on Sunday.
According to the statement, Obasi was abducted by a kidnapping syndicate that later dumped him inside the toilet of a hotel in the area while demanding a ₦5 million ransom.
Ukandu added that the police also foiled an armed robbery attack and neutralised one suspect during an operation on the Ehamufu–Nkalagu Road in Ishielu LGA.
Both incidents occurred on Nov. 12 and Nov. 13.
“On Nov. 12, operatives on patrol heard sporadic gunshots and distress screams along the Ehamufu–Nkalagu Road,” the statement read.

Giving details of the kidnap case, Ukandu said intelligence efforts led operatives to the hideout of the suspects, where Obasi was found and rescued unharmed.
Three suspects Uchenna Ogbozuru, Ebuka Ejiogu and Chizoba Idenyi Ogwa were arrested and are currently in police custody. They will be charged to court after the conclusion of investigations.

“She reiterated the command’s unwavering commitment to protecting the lives and property of all residents,” the statement added.
