Zamfara lawmaker gives succour to families of slain policemen

Rep, Abdulmalik Zubairu (APC -Zamfara) has donated foodstuffs and cash to families of six Policemen killed by bandits recently along the Gusau-Funtua Highway.

Chief Press Secretary to the lawmaker, Malam Aminu Lawal disclosed that the donation was presented to the families of the deceased by the Chairman, Coordinating Committee to the lawmaker, Bashar Bello-Auki

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the six policemen under the Zamfara Police Command were recently killed by bandits in an ambush along the road.

“The lawmaker described the death of the policemen as great losses.

“He noted that the loss of the deceased was not only limited to their families but to the nation as a whole,” he added.

Zubairu, represented by Bello-Auki, said each of the six bereaved families was given two bags of rice, two bags of maize, one bag of millet, five bags of Semovita and N200,000.

“The essence of the donation was to reduce the pain and sufferings of the families as a result of the losses of the victims who died in an assignment to defend the nation.”

The lawmaker also condoled with the Nigeria Police Force, the Zamfara Commissioner of Police and families of the deceased

He also prayed for Allah’s forgiveness and reward the victims with Aljanna Firdausi.

Responding on behalf of the NPF, Zamfara Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Maikaba, described the gesture as timely and worthwhile.

Maikaba appreciated the concern exhibited by the lawmaker and called on the beneficiaries to make the best use of the gesture.

Lawal quoted the police commissioner as saying, “security of lives and properties of citizens is a collective responsibility.

“There is the need for other influential and affluent people to emulate the invaluable gesture.
