The Kwara State Government has announced the release of 38 members of the Catholic Apostolic Church, CAC, Eruku, Ekiti Local Government Area, from captivity.

The chief press secretary to Governor Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq, Rafiu Ajakaye, announced the development in a statement on Sunday evening.

Governor AbdulRazaq lauded President Bola Tinubu’s direct intervention, describing it as pivotal to the successful release of the abductees.

The governor praised the President’s hands-on approach and his firm commitment to national security.

AbdulRazaq recalled that Tinubu had postponed his scheduled G20 trip to South Africa to personally address security breaches in Kwara and Kebbi states.

Security operatives, working alongside government representatives, were credited with intensive efforts that culminated in the release of the 38 worshippers.

The statement indicated that the freed victims were safely reunited with their families on Sunday, November 23.

Governor AbdulRazaq expressed gratitude to the Office of the National Security Adviser, the Department of State Services, the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Intelligence Agency, and the Nigeria Police, which deployed four new tactical teams to the state on presidential directives.

The governor also acknowledged the support of religious leaders, community stakeholders, and residents of Kwara State for their cooperation and goodwill throughout the crisis.

This development underscores the ongoing collaboration between the federal government and state authorities in tackling security challenges and ensuring the safety of citizens across Nigeria.
