United Nigeria Airlines has announced a significant expansion of its domestic network with the introduction of direct flights to Ilorin beginning December 5.

The airline confirmed that travellers from both Lagos and Abuja will enjoy seamless, non-stop services to the Gen. Tunde Idiagbon International Airport as part of its efforts to deepen regional access and strengthen air travel connectivity across the country.

The development was revealed in a statement issued in Lagos and signed by the airline’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Chibuike Uloka.

According to him, the decision reflects UNA’s commitment to improving mobility for Nigerians and enhancing the convenience of air travel for businesses, families, and leisure travellers.

He emphasised that Ilorin, with its growing population and expanding economic potential, represents a strategic addition to the airline’s route network.

Uloka added that the airline is optimistic about the opportunities the new route will generate for residents of Kwara State, particularly in terms of social integration and economic growth.

By linking Ilorin directly with major hubs like Lagos and Abuja, UNA aims to support commerce, tourism, and interstate collaboration.

In addition to the Ilorin service, UNA disclosed further expansions scheduled for December. Beginning December 10, the airline will commence direct flights from both Murtala Muhammed International Airport Terminal 2 in Lagos and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, to the Ekiti Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport.

This marks an important milestone for Ekiti State, which has recently upgraded its airport infrastructure to accommodate commercial passenger operations and boost agricultural export capacity.

The expansion continues on December 15, when UNA will begin direct flights from Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport to Chinua Achebe Airport in Anambra.

This connection is expected to benefit travellers in the northern and southeastern regions, offering a shorter and more efficient route for family visits, business engagements, and internal trade.

UNA stated that the newly added routes align with its mission to unite travellers safely and reliably across Nigeria.

The airline reaffirmed its long-term commitment to supporting national integration through improved air transport links, noting that accessible domestic travel remains a key factor in strengthening socioeconomic development across the federation.

With three new routes rolling out within 10 days, UNA’s December expansion positions the airline as one of Nigeria’s fastest-growing carriers, responding proactively to the rising demand for safe, efficient, and well-distributed flight options nationwide.
