Fifteen farmers from the Ungwan Nungu community in Bokana Ward, Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State, have been abducted by gunmen in an attack that has renewed fears across the constituency.

The victims were reportedly returning home from their farms on Saturday when the assailants ambushed and seized them, leaving families distressed and awaiting any word on their fate.

The member representing Jema’a/Sanga Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Daniel Amos, condemned the incident in strong terms.

Describing the abduction as cruel and senseless, he said the attack was another reminder of the insecurity that rural dwellers continue to endure.

According to him, farmers—whose livelihoods depend on daily access to their farmlands—remain among the most vulnerable to criminal invasion.

Amos stressed that communities in his constituency have suffered repeated attacks, and the latest development illustrates how brazen bandits have become.

He lamented that hardworking citizens going about routine activities could be so easily targeted, saying such acts must not be normalised.

He reiterated that every resident deserves to live and work without fear.

Calling for calm among residents of Ungwan Nungu and neighboring settlements, he urged them to avoid actions that could trigger panic or escalate tensions.

He emphasised the need for communities to remain vigilant and cooperate with security operatives to support ongoing efforts.

The lawmaker called for a coordinated and intelligence-driven security response, insisting that a more robust approach was required to ensure the safe return of the abducted farmers.

He noted that the search for the victims must involve intensified surveillance, ground operations and improved intelligence gathering to track the perpetrators’ movements.

Amos also demanded the arrest and prosecution of the attackers, saying accountability was essential to deterring future incidents.

He added that the community’s repeated experiences showed the need for sustained government attention and a security presence capable of discouraging bandit activity.

Expressing solidarity with the affected families, Amos acknowledged the pain and uncertainty they are facing.

He assured them that efforts were underway to secure the victims’ release and that he remained fully committed to ensuring their safe return.

He noted that while the security challenges were worrying, communities must not lose hope.

He reaffirmed that safeguarding the lives and livelihoods of his constituents remained his highest priority, promising to continue pushing for stronger measures to protect rural communities in Kaduna State.
