FilmOne Entertainment has recorded a strong box office opening with Warlord: Olori Ogun, which grossed ₦47 million in its opening weekend, signalling a growing appetite among Nigerian cinema audiences for culturally rooted storytelling.

The film, produced by Odunlade Adekola Film Production, in partnership with FilmOne Studios, premiered on Wednesday, November 26, before its nationwide cinema release on Friday, November 28. It is co-directed by Odunlade Adekola, Tope Adebayo and Abiodun Olanrewaju.

Set against the backdrop of Yoruba history and tradition, Warlord: Olori Ogun centres on a fearless warrior confronted with family conflict while standing firm in defence of his people and ancestral heritage.

Through a blend of drama, history and cultural symbolism, the film explores themes of bravery, legacy, identity and community.

The star-studded premiere drew several Nollywood actors and industry stakeholders, including Toyin Abraham, Muyiwa Ademola, Femi Adebayo, Iyabo Ojo, Mike Ezuruonye, Itele D Icon, Kie Kie and Bisola Aiyeola.

The red carpet was marked by vibrant traditional outfits that echoed the film’s cultural focus.

FilmOne Entertainment said the successful opening weekend reflects its commitment to promoting indigenous stories and expanding the presence of African narratives in cinemas across the country.

Victoria Ogar, Head of Distribution at FilmOne Entertainment, said the company is proud to support films that celebrate Nigerian culture, noting that Warlord: Olori Ogun captures the richness of local heritage and offers audiences a compelling big-screen experience.
