The Federal Road Safety Corps and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency have pledged to strengthen collaboration in combating drunk driving among motorists in Zamfara State.

The agencies said the partnership would also address substance abuse among drivers and commercial motorcycle riders to improve road safety across the state.

FRSC Public Relations Officer in the state, Isah Aliyu, in Gusau said the FRSC Sector Commander in the state, Aliyu Ma’aji, sought the partnership during a courtesy visit to the NDLEA State Commandant, Awoleye Adediran.

According to him, the FRSC has launched a public enlightenment campaign on the dangers of drunk driving aimed at educating drivers and passengers on precautionary safety measures.

He noted that the collaboration with the NDLEA would help reduce road traffic crashes and improve public awareness of the dangers of drunk driving among motorists and the general public.

Responding, Adediran promised the agency’s full support for sensitisation and awareness campaigns targeting drivers and other road users.

He added that the collaboration would further strengthen efforts to ensure safer highways across Zamfara State and Nigeria as a whole.
