Police Command in Kano State has arrested a three-man syndicate and recovered eight stolen tricycles in different parts of the State.

This is contained in a statement issued by the command Spokesperson CSP Abdullahi Kiyawa in Kano on Wednesday.

Kiyawa said police intercepted Abubakar Sidi riding a stolen tricycle on Airport Road, Kano, on March 26.

He explained that the suspect failed to provide ownership proof, leading to his transfer to CID.

The spokesperson said that investigations revealed he stole the vehicle at Emir Palace Road and sold others in Jigawa.

He explained that two accomplices were arrested, and seven tricycles recovered.

“The appeal to tricycle operators to be vigilant and report suspicious activities. Those whose tricycles were stolen should contact the spokesperson`s Office or IPO on 07010161372,“he said.

He said the Commissioner of Police in the state,  Mr Ibrahim  Bakori praised the police team and assured continued efforts to combat crime.

The police spokesman said efforts were ongoing to identify and apprehend other members of the syndicate, as well as trace the rightful owners of the recovered tricycles.

Meanwhile, the command has advised tricycle operators and members of the public to remain vigilant, particularly in their interactions with passengers.

“We urge operators not to accept drinks or gifts from strangers and to promptly report any suspicious activities to the police,” Kiyawa said.

He also called on individuals whose tricycles were stolen under similar circumstances to visit the Police Public Relations Office at the Bompai headquarters or contact the investigating officer for identification and recovery

The Commissioner, Ibrahim Bakori, commended the officers involved in the operation for their professionalism and dedication.

He reiterated the command’s commitment to intensifying efforts to combat crime and ensure the safety of lives and property across the state.

Recall, in January, the Ondo State Police Command arrested seven suspects in connection with a conspiracy and theft case involving goods valued at ₦20.45 million from a commercial store.

The Public Relations Officer of the command, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, stated that the complainant, Ogunyomi Segun, reported at the Ore Divisional Police Headquarters that between 2024 and January 3, 2026, some of his employees conspired to steal goods from his store.
