A visually impaired singer, Miss Sarima Owhur, has won a competition co-sponsored by the United Nigeria Airlines, UNA, for people living with disabilities, in Port Harcourt.

In a statement on Thursday, UNA said that the sponsorship was a demonstration of its commitment to inclusion and youth empowerment.

The statement was signed by the airline’s Port Harcourt Station Manager, Mr Uche Magbo. The airline co-sponsored the ‘Blind Segment’ of the Henrotion in Expression held in Port Harcourt.

Magbo said that  Owhur, popularly known as Sari Wonder, delivered a standout performance to win the competition and get a cash prize of ₦100,000.

He said the first runner-up, Kelly Zion, also received recognition after comedian Funny Bone announced additional ₦100,000 cash reward for the contestant’s talent.

Magbo praised all the contestants for their resilience, determination and remarkable performances.

He said the airline remained committed to supporting initiatives that would create opportunities for people living with disability.

“At United Nigeria Airlines, we believe true inclusion means giving a voice and a platform for those who are too often overlooked.

“We watched young people living with disabilities show us that talent has no limits and that vision is not a requirement for greatness.

“This is why we are proud to stand behind initiatives like this. We will never fail to support young, talented and hardworking Nigerians who are determined to rise above their circumstances.

“Congratulations to Sari Wonder, Kelly Zion, and every other contestant. You have inspired us all,” he said.

The station manager quoted the Founder of Henrotion, Mr Henry Aniakor, as expressing gratitude to the airline for partnership. “We thank UNA for believing in our vision and partnering with us.

Your support helped to have an unforgettable experience marked by creativity, excellence, meaningful connections, outstanding entertainment, and lasting impact,” he quoted Aniakor as saying.

Magbo also quoted the singer as thanking the airline for support.

The competition showcased vocal abilities of some visually-impaired young Nigerians. It was designed to provide them with a platform to express themselves and be celebrated for their talents.
