Reality TV star Mercy Eke has revealed that she cannot be in a relationship with a man who expects her to prepare meals for him daily, saying she prefers a partnership where household responsibilities are shared.
Speaking on an episode of Toke Moments hosted by media personality Toke Makinwa, the Big Brother Naija Season 4 winner explained that while she enjoys cooking occasionally, she does not believe it should automatically become her responsibility because she is the woman in the relationship.
She noted that her busy career and lifestyle require a partner who understands the importance of balance and shared duties at home.
Mercy said she would rather be with someone who is willing to share domestic responsibilities or make alternative arrangements, such as hiring help, when necessary.
According to her, love and marriage should be built on compatibility, with both partners understanding each other’s expectations before committing to a future together.

The reality star added that her views on relationships have evolved over the years due to her personal experiences, saying she now has a clearer understanding of the qualities and lifestyle she wants in a life partner.
“I can’t marry or date a man who wants me to cook for him regularly. I only cook once in a while when I am in the mood. If you want fresh food every day, hire a chef.
“It can’t be me. Love can never make me cook for a man every day. I’m not the woman for that kind of man. There are other women out there who will gladly do that, which is fine.
“If you marry me and you are thinking you don’t eat overnight food, it’s not me. I can’t cook every day, that is why it’s important to marry who has what you are looking for,“ she said.
Mercy Eke has remained outspoken about her views on relationships, marriage and personal boundaries, maintaining that she is open to settling down but only with a partner whose values, expectations and lifestyle align with hers.
