Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo could share the pitch as teammates for the first time if they attend Carlos Tevez’s planned farewell match in December.

Tevez is preparing a star-studded farewell event at La Bombonera, the home of Boca Juniors, with around 60 former teammates and football personalities expected to be invited.

Reports from Argentina indicate that Messi and Ronaldo are among the high-profile names being considered for the occasion, although their participation has not yet been officially confirmed.

A meeting between Messi and Ronaldo on the same team would mark a historic moment in football. The two superstars have never played together at club or international level during their professional careers. Instead, they spent much of their careers as rivals, with Messi starring for Barcelona and Ronaldo representing Real Madrid.

Their rivalry dominated world football for more than a decade, with both players competing for major trophies and individual honours.

Tevez has a unique relationship with both football icons, having played alongside Messi for Argentina and Ronaldo during his time at Manchester United.

The former Argentina international is reportedly hoping to bring the two legends together for his farewell match at the famous Buenos Aires stadium.

However, with the event still to come, neither Messi nor Ronaldo has officially confirmed that they will attend.

Tevez retired from competitive football in 2022 after a decorated career spanning several major clubs. The Argentine forward began his professional career at Boca Juniors before going on to play for Manchester United, Manchester City and Juventus, among other clubs.

He won domestic titles in Argentina, England and Italy and also lifted the UEFA Champions League with Manchester United.

His planned farewell is expected to bring together several of his former teammates and football personalities from throughout his career.

If Messi and Ronaldo both take part, their appearance together would add another historic chapter to Tevez’s farewell and provide one of the most anticipated reunions in football.
