The Nigerian equities market opened the week on a positive note on Monday, gaining N228 billion as sustained buying interest in 39 stocks lifted market capitalization by 0.14 per cent to N162.385 trillion.
The gain was driven by strong demand for shares of Nascon Allied Industries, Sunu Assurances, Omatek Ventures, Thomas Wyatt Nigeria and Critical Minerals Financing Corp, which led the gainers’ chart alongside 34 other advancing stocks. The market’s All-Share Index also rose, pushing its year-to-date return to 60.76 per cent.
Specifically, market capitalization increased from N162.157 trillion at the start of trading to N162.385 trillion at the close of business.
Similarly, the All-Share Index rose by 352.24 points, representing a 0.14 per cent increase, to close at 250,156.80, compared with 249,804.56 recorded on Friday.
The positive performance lifted the market’s year-to-date return to 60.76 per cent. Market breadth closed positive, with 39 gainers recorded against 26 losers.

Nascon Allied Industries, Sunu Assurances, Thomas Wyatt Nigeria, Critical Minerals Financing Corp and Omatek Ventures led the gainers’ chart, each appreciating by 10 per cent to close at N176, N3.08, N2.53, N2.24 and N1.32 per share, respectively.
On the losers’ chart, Okomu Oil led with a 10 per cent decline, closing at N1,276.20 per share. Custodian Investment followed, shedding 9.13 per cent to finish at N68.15, while Sovereign Trust Insurance fell by 8.64 per cent to N2.01 per share.
Haldane McCall declined by 8.33 per cent to close at N3.30, while Ellah Lakes dropped by 5.39 per cent to N7.90 per share.
Trading activity also strengthened during the session, with traded volume rising by 9.16 per cent to 574.19 million shares. The shares were valued at N38.06 billion across 68,655 transactions.
Zenith Bank led trading activity by both volume and value, with 77.07 million shares worth N9.90 billion changing hands. The transactions accounted for 13.42 per cent of total traded volume and 26.01 per cent of total traded value.
