Stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, have joined forces to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
The Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, announced the alliance at a stakeholders’ meeting of the Rainbow Coalition in Abuja on Monday.
The coalition comprised serving and former senators, party chairmen, National Assembly candidates and grassroots leaders from both parties across the FCT’s six area councils.
The stakeholders agreed to support Tinubu as their sole presidential candidate in the 2027 general elections.
Wike, who announced himself as the coordinator and field commander of Tinubu’s re-election campaign in the FCT and Rivers, urged members to put aside party differences in pursuit of their shared political objective.
“I want to let all of you know that we are going to work together. Nobody should say, ‘I am PDP’ or ‘I am APC.’ For the purpose of this election, we are together,” he said.
The minister cited the 2024 Edo State governorship election as an example of how cooperation between political stakeholders from different parties could influence electoral outcomes.
He said the coalition would focus on securing Tinubu’s victory while allowing participating parties to pursue their interests in other local elections.
Wike said the alliance would also campaign on what he described as the achievements of the Tinubu administration in the FCT and across the country.

He highlighted road construction, school rehabilitation, police station upgrades and improvements to public facilities across the territory’s six area councils.
The minister also cited the establishment of the FCT Civil Service Commission, the appointment of an internal Head of Service and the creation of dedicated secretariats for women’s affairs and youth development.
He said the measures had expanded career opportunities for FCT civil servants and increased participation in governance.
On the economy and security, Wike defended Tinubu’s economic reforms and expressed support for the proposed establishment of state police.
He said the coalition aimed to unite political leaders and residents behind Tinubu’s continued leadership beyond 2027.
Earlier, the FCT APC Chairman, Ishaku Yamawo, pledged support for Wike, describing him as the “pilot and commandant” of the territory’s election campaign.
Yamawo praised the minister for bringing political rivals together to pursue a common electoral objective.
The FCT PDP Chairman, Usman Yahaya, also pledged the party’s support for Tinubu’s re-election.
“We are in PDP but we are going to support Tinubu’s re-election 100 per cent,” Yahaya said.
