The All-Progressives Congress, APC, Presidential Campaign Council, Women Mobilisation Directorate has assured Nigerians that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second term would usher in greater prosperity as the benefits of his administration’s economic reforms begin to show.

The Directorate’s leader, Dr Betta Edu, gave the assurance in Kaduna on Thursday during a courtesy visit to the state Deputy Governor, Dr Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, ahead of the APC presidential campaign flag-off in the state. She led a delegation that included Senator Binta Masi Garba, Hon Scholastica Ben-Sor, Hon Elizabeth Ogenyi and Hon Ada Ode, among others.

According to Edu, Nigerians have passed through the difficult phase of economic adjustment and are approaching a period when the gains of the reforms would become more evident.

“We have gone through the reform phase already. Now it is time for prosperity. We are already at the gate of prosperity; re-elect President Tinubu come 2027,” she said.

The Directorate, she explained, is working to mobilise approximately 40 million votes for Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima in the 2027 presidential election — a target she said would require sustained grassroots engagement, particularly among women.

“Our plan as the PCC mobilisation directorate is to see that we can mobilise at least close to 40 million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. And we cannot do this without getting down to the grassroots,” she stated.

Edu said the mobilisation strategy would go beyond major rallies to direct interactions with women in markets, communities and homes, where their concerns could be heard and government policies explained. She urged APC women leaders in Kaduna and other North-West states to intensify peaceful, door-to-door engagement based on persuasion and dialogue, not intimidation.

She also commended Governor Uba Sani’s administration for its interventions in road construction, public transportation and primary healthcare, and paid tribute to Deputy Governor Balarabe as the first woman elected deputy governor in Kaduna State and the wider far North — a milestone for women’s political representation.

Deputy governor pledges successful flag-off

Responding, Balarabe, who chairs the Local Organising Committee, LOC, for the flag-off, assured the delegation that the state government and the LOC were working towards a successful event, with planning and coordination meetings already held.

“We try as much as possible to take any assignment given to us seriously,” she said, noting that Kaduna’s strategic position in Northern Nigeria placed considerable responsibility on the state.

She called on the Directorate to work closely with the LOC and other stakeholders, and urged women leaders to sustain their engagement beyond the flag-off into active electoral participation in 2027.

“Our work as women is to tell all women to be on our side; women are reliable,” she said, encouraging the team to take the message of the Renewed Hope Agenda directly to women at the grassroots.

Also on the delegation, Hon Munirat Suleiman Tanimu addressed the press in Hausa on the level of grassroots engagement, assuring victory for President Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani.

Thursday’s visit forms part of the Directorate’s wider stakeholder engagement programme — including market outreach, hospital visits and consultations with women leaders — as preparations for the 2027 general elections gather momentum.
