The OK Movement has stressed the importance of grassroots mobilization, strategic planning and organizational capacity in determining the success of political campaigns ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The movement, short for the Obi-Kwankwaso Movement, is a Nigerian political coalition and grassroots initiative. It was inaugurated to mobilize support for a joint ticket of Peter Obi as president and Rabiu Kwankwaso as vice president on the platform of the Nigeria Democratic Congress.
Its National Director-General, Mr. John Ughulu, in a statement on Monday, noted that effective electioneering requires adequate preparation, functional structures and coordinated mobilization that go beyond the appointment of campaign officials, and that political organizations need strong grassroots networks and strategies capable of reaching voters across the country.
Ughulu said the timing of campaign preparations matters, particularly as political parties and support groups step up activities ahead of the elections.
The OK Movement, he said, has prioritized organizational development and grassroots coordination, which he described as essential to a successful campaign, and has continued to build its structures in readiness for the polls.

He said the movement believes political ambition should be backed by the capacity to mobilize supporters, coordinate activities and sustain engagement with voters.
Campaign councils and prominent political figures are important, he noted, but they must be supported by functional structures and effective mobilization strategies.
The director-general stressed that the movement remains committed to showing the value of organized grassroots participation in the country’s electoral process and expressed confidence that its organizational experience could contribute to broader political mobilization before the elections.
He added, however, that the movement expects political organizations to recognize the importance of established structures and sustained preparation in their electoral engagements.
Reiterating the movement’s commitment to its political objectives, Ughulu said it would keep strengthening its coordination and mobilization efforts.
He also reaffirmed its position that effective leadership in electioneering depends on preparation, organization and the ability to turn political support into coordinated action, and said the movement stays ready to contribute to efforts to achieve those objectives ahead of the 2027 general elections.
