The Federal Government has announced the immediate closure of Lagos Third Mainland Bridge for repair works.
The closure is scheduled to take effect at midnight on Saturday, October 21, and last until midnight on Sunday, October 22.
Mrs. Olukorede Kesha, the Federal Controller of Works in Lagos State, in a statement explaining that the government is fully prepared to embark on a comprehensive rehabilitation project for the bridge.It entails repair of critical sections.
Kesha emphasised the government’s commitment to inform and update the motoring public on its plans to conduct these necessary repairs on the Third Mainland Bridge.

To minimise the inconvenience currently experienced on the bridge, the Ministry will initiate palliative measures to address the most severely damaged sections along the Adeniji-bound carriageway.
These palliative repairs are set to take place on Sunday, October 22, as a prelude to the extensive repair work.
Motorists are urged to cooperate with traffic management officials, adhering to all diversions as directed to ensure smooth traffic flow.
During the period of palliative repairs, motorists are encouraged to explore alternative routes where feasible, as the Adeniji-bound portion of the bridge will be closed to traffic from Saturday, October 21, until midnight on Sunday, October 22.
