Dr. DanAzumi Ibrahim, Director-General of the National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion, NOTAP, has resigned after successfully completing two terms of four years.

According to Crediblenews, Ibrahim was appointed director-general of NOTAP on October 15, 2015, for a four-year term that was extended on October 15, 2019, by former President Muhammadu Buhari.

In a statement, Solomon Nshem, the deputy director of NOTAP’s public relations and protocol, said that Ibrahim gave the reins to Dr. Idoreyin Imiyoho, the director of technology innovation and commercialization.

Nshem stated that Imiyoho, the office’s senior director, assumed leadership in an acting capacity and thanked the departing director-general for the accomplishments the office achieved during his tenure.

He said that earlier, Ibrahim had prayed for more success in the office and thanked the agency’s management and employees for their support during his employment.

“With 320 patents to date, NOTAP has seen an exponential growth in patenting research results during Ibrahim’s tenure.

In order to establish and expand the NOTAP-Industry Technology Transfer Fellowship , NITTF, in knowledge-based institutions throughout Nigeria, NOTAP also made use of partnerships with industries through technology transfer agreements.

“Through technology transfer agreements, which would have left the country via capital flight, his tenure was also able to save the country N140 billion,” he stated.
