As the election drama unfolds in Bayelsa, Imo, and Kogi States, a political group, the Co Federation of All Progressives Congress Support Groups ,CASG,, has issued a calm and measured call to Nigerians.
In a briefing held in Abuja, Dr. Kailani Muhammad, the Director General of CASG, urged the public to maintain composure and respect due process during this critical period.
Expressing the need for transparency, the group called on the Independent National Electoral Commission , INEC, to uphold professionalism and clarity in releasing the election results. Dr. Muhammad emphasized the importance of avoiding actions that could disrupt the electoral process and appealed to security agencies to fulfill their duty in preventing violence during and after the elections.
In his words, “Nigerians should shun violence, especially those in the three states where the election is ongoing. We should all ensure a peaceful process and not the other way around.
INEC should keep doing its best to ensure a peaceful outcome of the election.”
Addressing the recent disruption of flights by the Nigerian Labour Congress ,NLC, and Trade Union Congress ,TUC, following the assault on its National President, Comrade Joe Ajaero, in Imo State, CASG expressed disappointment.
Dr. Muhammad criticized the move as unpatriotic and advised the NLC president to engage the government in dialogue instead of resorting to disruptive actions.
“We are not happy over the disruption of flights by the NLC protest over the recent assault on its National President. We condemned NLC’s action. NLC should engage the government and endure a roundtable discussion instead of causing more trouble,” he remarked.
The group stressed that such disruptive actions are not in the best interest of the country and encouraged a collaborative approach to problem-solving rather than confrontational measures.
