Nigeria stands out as the sole African country among the top ten nations with the highest number of students studying in the United States, according to the new Open Doors Report by the Institute of International Education ,IIE.
The report, published on Monday, reveals a 22.2% increase in the number of Nigerian students studying in the United States within a year, despite challenges like the foreign exchange crisis.
Enrollment from Nigeria rose from 14,438 in the previous academic year to 17,640 in the 2022/23 academic year.
The overall report states that the United States hosted 1.06 million international students during the academic year, marking a 12% increase compared to the previous academic year.
