President Bio extended his appreciation specifically to Nigeria, highlighting the country’s instrumental role in supporting Sierra Leone’s resolution presented at the United Nations on November 18.
The resolution aimed to dedicate this day to recognizing the victims of sexual harassment and related atrocities, particularly women and girls who have suffered. The Sierra Leonean leader expressed deep gratitude for the collaborative effort that led to the successful passage of the resolution.
Acknowledging Nigeria’s military support, President Bio recounted how the country played a crucial role in helping Sierra Leone overcome the challenges of war, ultimately contributing to the restoration of peace.

Dr. Fatima Bio, the President’s wife, also expressed gratitude, singling out Nigeria and its First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, for their presence in commemorating the first anniversary of the UN World Day Against Rape and Girl-Child Exploitation.
In a touching moment, she thanked Sen. Tinubu for being a source of inspiration and emphasized Nigeria’s significant role as Sierra Leone’s big brother, offering support during challenging times, including periods of war.
