In a significant move toward bolstering the leadership of the Federal Civil Service, the Federal Government has shortlisted 18 directors for the final stage of the recruitment process for permanent secretaries.

This comes on the heels of a rigorous ICT assessment that narrowed down the pool of contenders.

Originally, a total of 85 directors were shortlisted for the written assessment, with four notably absent from the proceedings.

However, as the dust settled, only 20 directors successfully navigated the written exam and proceeded to the next stage – the ICT proficiency assessment.

A memo from the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation ,OHCSF, dated November 7, 2023, revealed that the 61 directors who failed the examination scored below 50 percent, rendering them ineligible for further consideration in the recruitment process.

The memo stated, “The under-listed 18 candidates are invited to the oral interview stage of the process for the appointment of Permanent Secretaries in the Federal Civil Service following their successful performance in Stages 1 and 2 of the exercise.

” This announcement signifies a crucial advancement for the shortlisted directors who demonstrated competence in both the written and ICT proficiency stages.

Notably, directors from Bauchi and Ebonyi States faced a setback, as they failed the ICT assessment and consequently missed out on progressing to the final stage of the recruitment process.

As the Federal Government progresses with these appointments, the coming days are anticipated to bring heightened anticipation and scrutiny, shaping the future leadership landscape of the Federal Civil Service.
